I expected Immacolata and Concetta: The Other Jealousy to be far more sleazy than it was. Instead, the film is fairly underplayed. I’ll be honest, I found myself missing some of the sleaze. 5.5/10

The film is an artistic exploration of people at the fringes of a subculture. It crafts that subculture as something capable of great beauty under the direction of Monika Treut and her colour-saturated, Dutch angle-loving camera. 7.3/10
Scrubbers is an excellent piece of feminist filmmaking and a welcome alternative to women in prison exploitation. Its understanding and depiction of humanity is something that looks so easy under the eye of director and co-writer Mai Zetterling. 8.2/10
I’m very much not the audience for Afternoon Breezes. It’s slow and subtle yet also deals with a problematic lesbian stereotype. 5.4/10
Virgin Machine is a fascinating artistic snapshot of feminist and filmmaking in West Germany; a country that would cease to exist less than two years after Virgin Machine’s release. 6.4/10
It was pretty disappointing watching a movie subtitled Lesbian Love and it being as overall straight as T-Bird at Ako is. 2.2/10
Writing this review in 2023 means I’ve not only seen lots of films like this but that the real-life attitude towards same-sex parenting has evolved much past what By Design portrays. 5.7/10
The Corruption remains a beautiful looking movie, but one with an identity crisis about whether it’s erotica or more serious art. 5.5/10
Being an above average Jess Franco film still means this is still a bad film by any other metric. 3.1/10
Lianna is a progressive, sensitive and spectacular character study. 8.9/10
