To my pleasant surprise, Schoolgirl Complex is hardly sexual or fetishized at all. But crossing the low threshold of not being sleazy and gross is not enough to make it an interesting movie. 5.5/10

I really enjoyed this movie. I’ve Heard the Mermaids Singing is a quick sit with likeable characters. I love its messages about kindness and also the subjectivity of art and critique. 7.8/10

Ghosted is one of those bad movies where throughout most of the film I just kept asking, what is the point of this movie? 3.8/10

Olivia is one of the oldest WLW films I know of and was directed by a woman. As such, the film has great female characters and understanding of women and girls. It also had a surprisingly good grasp of psychology. 8/10

The Secrets is a complex and emotional film. It is one of the best WLW films I’ve seen. Great writing and great performances make this an engaging, exceptional film. 9.2/10

In a lot of ways, this movie more forward-thinking than lots of WLW films released in the following two decades. That Tender Touch is a surprisingly nuanced film for the time. 5.9/10

Even if I found subtitles for Xdeal, I can’t imagine they’d change how I feel about the film. This is just a silly piece of softcore porn that doesn’t really respect women and has no likeable characters. 2.1/10
