Love’s Lone Flower is a beautiful tragedy. There’s a sad poetry to the story. But more so, this is a beautiful film to look at. 6.7/10
Queer people deserve this sort of wish fulfillment, cliche romantic media. More than that, they deserve it to be good. The Substitute is here to be an entry into that all too rare club of quality queer wish fulfillment romances. 6.9/10
Murmur of Youth is a perfectly adept film. But it’s a very small, quiet story that isn’t exactly going to stand out in my memory. 5.6/10
Somehow, despite this words being basically antonyms, Miao Miao is a lighthearted tragedy involving a bisexual love triangle. 6.5/10
Zero Chou’s Spider Lilies is a film that is absolutely greater than the sum of its parts. 7.6/10
Blue Gate Crossing is one of few movies that emphasizes friendship over romantic relationships. But even if there were more, Blue Gate Crossing would still be exceptional for its charm, relatable protagonist and strong performances. 7.8/10
