Compulsion has nothing going for it. The focus of this movie is being sexy so character work and story are almost non-existent. But it’s also not even that sexy or extreme. 3.9/10
Ultimately, Alena is spooky and well-paced enough to be at least mildly successful as a horror movie. And even a mildly successful horror movie is a minority in that genre. Still, as much as I’ve seen worse movies than Alena, I’ve seen better ones too. 5.7/10
If you’re a fan of particularly extreme horror movies and don’t mind seeing vomit, bugs and implications of child rape, The Perfection is an effective horror movie. It just would’ve been more effective if they’d chosen a more creative horror device than rape. 6.0/10
For all the good things about What Keeps You Alive, it remains a horror/thriller movie and it is neither horrific nor thrilling. 5.4/10
During the entirety of Verónica, I kept thinking of movies that did the same things as this movie except they were done 20 years ago and to better effect.
Sure, Breaking the Girls has more lady kissing in it than most but overall, it’s like the literally bazillion other mediocre thrillers that make the same mistake of thinking more misdirects equals a better movie. 4.6/10
Cracks is a good-looking take on an unoriginal premise. Whether or not this movie is for you is going to depend on how much you value visuals over script.
