Make a Wish

I love WLW films. I also love horror films. Unfortunately, Make a Wish is so poor that even my aggressive bias towards WLW horror movies can’t save it.

Make a Wish is about a bunch of lesbians who don’t like each other but go camping together anyways because its’ one of their birthdays. In standard slasher style, they slowly get killed off.

Make a Wish is a slasher movie without fear or thrills. I don’t care about the characters so I don’t care when they die. None of them die in ways that are scary or even interesting. The movie also takes place almost entirely during the daytime which robs it further of any fear that can come with darkness.

Look! Even the DVD covers knows this is a bad movie! If the best pull quote you can find only mentions the premise of the movie, that’s not great. And yeah, it’s a great premise. But there’s a reason there wasn’t an available pull-quote about how the execution of said premise was any good.

I have little to say about this movie, it sucked. It’s an unscary slasher film with characters who you don’t care about, a failure to drum up tension and a nonsense plot twist. Usually adding lesbians to a movie makes me like it better. But this movie was so bland and the lesbians so lame that I cannot imagine that the inclusion of lesbians made it any better. The film is so bad overall it’s even sucked out the positive qualities that the inclusion of lesbians usually provides.

Overall rating: 2.5/10
