Camila Comes Out Tonight is a perfectly competent little film. I am not overly moved only because of the sheer abundance of coming-of-age queer films I’ve seen. 5.8/10
WLW Film Reviews Posts
As an aspiring filmmaker myself, this is a great example of a well-done script with great characters that can be shot on a smaller budget. The outcome is a dark, moving and funny portrait of a complex relationship. 6.8/10
Two has good directing, acting, and a solid first hour. However, the rushed final act keeps the film from being something I can call overall good. 5.6/10
Lianna is a progressive, sensitive and spectacular character study. 8.9/10
The Freudian focus of The Escape is the rotten centre of a stylish and intriguing vintage WLW film. 5.2/10
Bodies Bodies Bodies scared me less than I expected, but made me laugh more. The film takes 20-something messiness and ramps it up so high that it has a body count. 7.7/10
Emilienne doesn’t have a strong enough story nor notable enough erotica. It’s very much a film meant to ride the coattails of an earlier, more successful movie. 3.6/10
I do not know who the audience is for the Compulsion remake. I can’t see anyone singling this out as a favourite movie of theirs. It never quite comes together. 5.4/10
Moonlit Winter stands out as a film that knows how to do more with less. 7.5/10
I genuinely want all WLW movies to be good. When Kiran Met Karen can’t be called good though. 1.8/10
