Gus Van Sant needed a tighter reign on the unusual society he’d created in the film and also to genuinely enjoy at least some of the oddballs he populated the movie with. In Even Cowgirls get the Blues, he did neither. 4.5/10
Nadja is stylish, thoughtful and surprisingly funny even if it ends with surprise incest undertones. 7.1/10
The problem with me writing this review is the only word in my head after watching it was TENDER in all caps. 7.8/10
Henry & June is not a success. It’s poorly acted, has little insight into its characters and is neither queer nor horny enough given who its lead character is. 4.8/10

Revolutionary Girl Utena: The Movie is a gloriously gay, surreal visual treat of a film with themes of adulthood and female liberation. 9.1/10
My best guess about what The Sex Monster is trying to “say” is that women can’t have a normal relationship to sexuality. I hope I’m wrong on that but that’s very much what the film reads as. 5.0/10
As someone from Canada, I don’t need a movie that spends so much time showing how damn cold it is outside. If I wanted to experience that, I’d actually go outside. 5.9/10
