The amount of poly films I’ve seen probably lessens my regard for this specific one. I’ve seen the beats of this story many times before. And Before We Grow Old’s take on those beats is a particularly boring one. 4.8/10

Unexpected was almost exactly what I expected for a German TV movie about a lesbian romance. No real surprises here! 5.8/10

The brief period of time where at least in fiction, you could hide away from the troubles of the world in the arms of a pretty girl might be coming to an end. In its place is Foreign Language, where even in the arms of a pretty girl, the rise of far-right extremism and environmental collapse loom ever-present. 7.7/10
In 600 WLW movies, I’ve seem so absolute garbage. And Don’t Look at Me That Way isn’t on that level. But that doesn’t mean there’s enough here to recommend either. 4.6/10
Two Mothers is probably the most standard lesbian pregnancy drama film I’ve seen. And I’ve seen most of them. 5.5/10
Axolotl Overkill is a stylized and challenging film with great cinematography. It’s a deeply impressive debut from Helene Hegemann. 5.6/10
As I so often say, being gay isn’t enough. Or, not for me as an audience. You gotta be gay AND interesting. And The Competitor is only the first one. 4.2/10
Everything Will Be Fine feels like the future. This film is youthful, modern and effortlessly progressive. 6.5/10
