The Guest House

The Guest House is another jewel in the crown of shitty lesbian movies made by male filmmakers.

The Guest House is about Amy, who stays in her boss’s guest house while in LA and becomes acquainted with her boss’s 18 year old daughter, Rachel. They have a fun weekend of platonic friendship before the inevitable sex scene. Everything is ruined because apparently Amy had slept with Rachel’s dad in the past and yeah, that’s really icky and Rachel feels betrayed. Also there’s a subplot about Rachel wanting to be a singer.

This movie is bad all around. It can’t make up its mind as to whether to be a romantic comedy or soft-core porn. Also there’s a whole hand-held camera gimmick in this movie which is insufferable.

The actresses do have decent chemistry and the major sex scene is decent. Like sort of too decent. It’s a bit obvious that this film was structured around that one lesbian sex scene because so much more time and energy goes into that aspect of the film than any others.

Feel free to just watch the sex scene. The rest of the movie is garbage. The sex scene itself isn’t the best but it’s the only thing salvageable from a movie that can’t even figure out what genre it is.
