I do not know who the audience is for the Compulsion remake. I can’t see anyone singling this out as a favourite movie of theirs. It never quite comes together. 5.4/10

There’s a lot to love about Set Me Free. If you haven’t seen it, I really recommend tracking down this 23 year old French Canadian coming-of-age film. 8/10
Vic + Flo offers an unusual narrative by taking a simple story and making the choice for its characters to be queer women over a certain age. But really, the star here is how damn beautiful the film is to look at. 8/10
Bloodthirsty is a mixed bag of really good direction and below average storytelling. 5.3/10
Overall, Porcupine Lake is a success. It makes excellent use of a Canadian setting and manages to tell an innocent story about budding sexuality. 6.3/10
I love the concept of Riot Girls. A post-apocalypse with queer protagonists where apparently everyone deals with the apocalypse by getting really into punk? Hell yeah! 6.4/10
It’s difficult to write a lengthy review about White Lie. The film is just an interesting premise executed competently by the writer, director and actors. 8.2/10
There are Canadian films and then there are CANADIAN films. Revoir Julie, with its bilingualism, actors you’ve never heard of, small-town setting and conflict that can be described as moderate at best falls firmly into the latter category. 6.3/10
I really enjoyed this movie. I’ve Heard the Mermaids Singing is a quick sit with likeable characters. I love its messages about kindness and also the subjectivity of art and critique. 7.8/10
If you like the web-series, you will like The Carmilla Movie. However, I am not sure if jumping right into the movie would be enjoyable. While The Carmilla Movie works as an epilogue to the larger series, I do not know how strongly it stands on its own. 6.4/10
