As some sort of standalone TV episode, this could’ve worked. But weak as The Girl’s story is, even the cool and sexy vibes can’t sustain it for a full movie runtime. 4.6/10

Films piss me off when they’re offensive or feel like they’re not trying. Intentions isn’t offensive and I think everyone was trying their hardest. Tragically, all this trying just didn’t lead to any success. 2.5/10
Sword of Trust really works because of how well everyone understands the universe and the movie that they’re in. This feels like more of a collaboration between filmmaker and actors than most scripted films. 6.8/10
Two Mothers for Zachary is a well-meaning but undoubtedly dated TV movie. Its approach to gay rights is primarily to show gay oppression without victory. 6.4/10
Spring is borderline remarkable simply because of how unremarkable it is. 5.1/10
The Aerialist is a weaker follow-up to the first film, The Gymnast. And I thought The Gymnast was just okay. 5.2/10
long Came Wanda is the first WLW film I’ve seen that includes the Covid-19 pandemic. And especially because this movie is very much a rom-com, I think maybe they shouldn’t have. 4.0/10
Writing this review in 2023 means I’ve not only seen lots of films like this but that the real-life attitude towards same-sex parenting has evolved much past what By Design portrays. 5.7/10
