Fawzia Mirza’s The Queen of my Dreams is one of those successfully emotional movies that utilizes a very personal story to invite its audience to a different time, place and lived experience. 7.3/10
I’m remarkable uninspired by The Retreat. I’ve seen every single aspect of this film multiple times in other places. 4.5/10
The best way I can describe The Invisible Mother is a David Lynch film by way of John Waters. That’s a stressful and upsetting combination of influences! 7.2/10
The ambition of Book of Monsters far exceeds its practical realities. This isn’t just a horror movie, but a splatter-heavy creature feature. And unfortunately, Book of Monsters is very, very cheap. 4.1/10
Life Blood is a movie that feels defensively half-assed. I get a real vibe of, “your criticisms can’t hurt me because I wasn’t even trying anyway” from most of the film. Which is a shame, because I don’t hate all of the ideas in Life Blood. But geez, the execution was shit. 3.7/10
Jagged Mind isn’t nearly as thrilling as it should be. The story doesn’t live up to the premise. And it’s further let down by some technical weaknesses. 4.8/10
I didn’t like the original 1974 version of Vampyres. But as it so often goes, the remake is worse.
Sex is weird. Sexuality is perhaps weirder. The Book of Gabrielle understands and even celebrates that through its lead character’s stories and experiences. 6.6/10
