Ultimately, Alena is spooky and well-paced enough to be at least mildly successful as a horror movie. And even a mildly successful horror movie is a minority in that genre. Still, as much as I’ve seen worse movies than Alena, I’ve seen better ones too. 5.7/10

If you’re a fan of particularly extreme horror movies and don’t mind seeing vomit, bugs and implications of child rape, The Perfection is an effective horror movie. It just would’ve been more effective if they’d chosen a more creative horror device than rape. 6.0/10

For all the good things about What Keeps You Alive, it remains a horror/thriller movie and it is neither horrific nor thrilling. 5.4/10

During the entirety of Verónica, I kept thinking of movies that did the same things as this movie except they were done 20 years ago and to better effect.

I love WLW and I also enjoy watching a good murder so Lizzie should’ve been a movie for me. Too bad it took itself so damn seriously and failed to be anything other than dull. 5.8/10

Not every WLW movie has to be life changing but Concussion left so little impact on me as a viewer that I might as well have not seen it at all. 5.7/10

While I think that Claude’s character will be relatable for a lot of queer female viewers, it doesn’t save the fact that this isn’t a particularly good movie. All Over Me feels ultimately aimless. 5.5/10

Bloomington didn’t blow me away with how good it was or anything. But it is significantly better than I expected and one of my favourite depictions of a WLW teacher/student relationship. 5.7/10

The Duke of Burgundy was a largely critically acclaimed, well-directed art film that unflinchingly explores a lesbian BDSM relationship and all the relationship facets thereof. Yet despite all this critical acclaim and beautiful cinematography, I wasn’t a huge fan.

Cracks is a good-looking take on an unoriginal premise. Whether or not this movie is for you is going to depend on how much you value visuals over script.
