Mixed Messages left me deeply unmoved. I want to celebrate what this movie stands for but its execution was really poor. This was a truly tedious 75 minutes to sit through. 1.9/10

For a film to rate below a 3/10 for me, I need to think to myself, “wow, I hate this!” at least once while watching. I had that thought dozens of times watching 69 + 1.

It makes it all the stranger that in a film so lacking in overall quality that there is a relationship that features such extraordinary chemistry from the two actresses. Sadly, the scenes between Zoe and Shelby don’t make up enough of the movie to drag Kiss Me out of being a pretty bad movie. 3.5/10
As I so often say, being gay isn’t enough. Or, not for me as an audience. You gotta be gay AND interesting. And The Competitor is only the first one. 4.2/10
With comedies, it always comes down to the simple question, “is it funny?” And Kiss Me! isn’t funny. 4.2/10
Stupid For You’s reliance on cliches makes this a love letter to the Riot Grrrl movement without any of that movement’s edge or danger. 4.2/10
As some sort of standalone TV episode, this could’ve worked. But weak as The Girl’s story is, even the cool and sexy vibes can’t sustain it for a full movie runtime. 4.6/10
Films piss me off when they’re offensive or feel like they’re not trying. Intentions isn’t offensive and I think everyone was trying their hardest. Tragically, all this trying just didn’t lead to any success. 2.5/10
The never ending presence of the male gaze really tanks this movie. There’s some deep and major family drama in the film. But it constantly comes second to depicting women as sexy. 3.7/10
