Hallmark movies can feel like a warm mug of cocoa. City of Trees is more like a glass of water you left on your bedside table in December over night for a week. 3.8/10

Road of Bygones found a really interesting hook that makes itself stand out from other, similar indie movies. It’s such a good hook that I think the film should’ve pivoted to that being the entire premise. 5.9/10
The amount of poly films I’ve seen probably lessens my regard for this specific one. I’ve seen the beats of this story many times before. And Before We Grow Old’s take on those beats is a particularly boring one. 4.8/10
The Nightmare Gallery is slightly better, but much less interesting than you might think from looking at this review’s header image. 2.9/10
Adan had a decent idea for how to start its movie and seemingly, a specific way it wanted the film to end. And in between? Bad character work, lousy sex scenes and a plot that doesn’t so much gradually get more unhinged but rather does so in fits and starts. 3.7/10
The relationship between the two leads covers a lot of ground, much of it toxic and not necessarily related to sexuality. But it’s the very complexity of this relationship that makes Beanpole such an excellent film. 8.8/10
Between the Seasons is a small, sad and hopeful slice of life movie. 6.7/10
This isn’t just fluff of no nutritional value. There’s depth and drama to this teen romance too. 7.3/10
The ambition of Book of Monsters far exceeds its practical realities. This isn’t just a horror movie, but a splatter-heavy creature feature. And unfortunately, Book of Monsters is very, very cheap. 4.1/10
In a subgenre full of such similar films, Mom + Mom is a below average execution of the standard tropes and plot points. 3.7/10
