Gornick’s confidence in centralizing her experiences and thoughts is admirable. But of the three films of hers I’ve seen, Tick Tock Lullaby is the weakest. And after three movies of Gornick’s thoughts, it veers away from highlighting a marginalized voice as it becomes so specifically about Lisa Gornick as a person. 5.0/10

Chuck Chuck Baby was an unusual delight of a movie. A queer musical set in a chicken factory. The final product is so assured, so well-done and so delightful. 7.2/10
This movie is so bad that it made me respect cinema as a genre more, with the notable exception of The White Book which reconstructed my conceptualization of what a truly terrible film looks like. 1.4/10
Fresh Kill doesn’t quite manage to marry its political and philosophical observations with its fictive narrative. 5.8/10
The ambition of Book of Monsters far exceeds its practical realities. This isn’t just a horror movie, but a splatter-heavy creature feature. And unfortunately, Book of Monsters is very, very cheap. 4.1/10
Sex is weird. Sexuality is perhaps weirder. The Book of Gabrielle understands and even celebrates that through its lead character’s stories and experiences. 6.6/10
Blue Jean is great at showing at once how far the LGBTQ* community has come and how much work still must be done to reach equality. All of this is done with a tight, focused narrative, assured directing and solid performances. 7.9/10
BBC TV movies are of a solid, uniform quality. Daphne is no exception. This is a good movie. But that’s as far as I’m willing to go. 6.4/10
The medium chosen to tell this story and the quality of directing brings down Stud Life’s vibrant, likeable and realistic protagonist. 5.1/10
