As a film about a queer family of choice, it’s more complex than many of the ones I watch. But I supposed I just wished all these queer misfits liked each other a little more. 6.1/10
This is one of those movies that I give a negative review to because there’s just not enough positive to say about it. The film is a bit thin on the ground anyway, and what they do present is less than great. 3.8/10
Vintage psychodramas are a non-renewable resource. We’re not exactly getting more of them. So I adore the ones we do have. As imperfect as they are, they are engaging, fucked up and also willing to explore some interesting concepts. 6.2/10
The Mountain tells a human story without managing to fuck it up. But it also doesn’t exactly provide enough drama to make it a particularly engaging sit. 5.4/10
I watched What It Was. And upon completion, I could not actually tell you what it was. 2.7/10
Between the Seasons is a small, sad and hopeful slice of life movie. 6.7/10
I applaud The Exchange for all that it is, but I can’t honestly write that the movie was amazing or particularly innovative. It’s just a high school romance. 5.6/10
Fresh Kill doesn’t quite manage to marry its political and philosophical observations with its fictive narrative. 5.8/10
This feels like a muddled artistic vision that culminates in something that’s mostly dull and occasionally inexcusably offensive. 4.6/10
