This is a movie I wish I enjoyed more. But sometimes there’s a gulf between watching a movie as a general thing and watching a sapphic movie. Luxurious Bone works as an overall movie. But if you watch it as I did, with a focus towards the sapphic element, the film will likely disappoint. 4.9/10

acques Audiard took a series of big swings with Emilia Pérez. And he struck out on almost all of them. 4.5/10
As a biopic, I find Marinette slightly below average. I think the film lacks focus and doesn’t do enough justice to the character at its centre. 4.9/10
Jules of Light and Dark has much in common with its protagonist. Both are vague, aimless and don’t evoke any strong emotion in me as a viewer. 3.6/10
The best thing I can say about it is that it didn’t monumentally fuck anything up. I’ve seen my fair share of movies that fail to meet that requirement. However, not fucking up doesn’t mean Us x Her did anything particularly good, either. 4.6/10
Showing one’s real story is a respectable goal, especially when it’s something as frequently sensationalized as polyamory. But Petit Mal is so specific it doesn’t work as a portrait of polyamory. It only functions as a portrait of Ruth Caudeli’s specific relationship. 4.5/10
l just think if you’re going to make a story as melodramatic as Who Am I Now? that you need to have some specifics. It can’t just be constant scenes of women crying, declaring, “I can’t do this” and running away. 3.2/10
Far from depicting unconditional love, Coming Home For Christmas portrays extremely conditional love and support. There’s a line in the movie about how family should be the place where you can be the truest version of yourself. But everything that happens in this movie disproves that. 2.7/10
Hallmark movies can feel like a warm mug of cocoa. City of Trees is more like a glass of water you left on your bedside table in December over night for a week. 3.8/10
Ashamed has ambitions of being artsy and profound. Unfortunately, such ambitions were lost on me. I spent most of the movie just trying to keep straight what was happening. 3/10
